August CPI-IW up by a point, at 253. DA hike from Jan 2015 likely to be 7% The All-India CPI (IW) for August, 2014 increased by 1 point and pegged at 253 (two hundred and fifty three). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by 0.40 per cent between July, 2014 and August, 2014 when compared with the rise of 0.85 per cent between the same two months a year ago.

It is too early to predict the exact DA from January 2015. However, an average increase of the CPI-IW by one or two points will yield the DA figure of 114%. Hence it is likely that the DA from January 2015 will see a hike of 7%.
