Cabinet hikes DA to 100%. No word on merger.

Cabinet hikes DA to 100%. No word on merger.
With an eye on Lok Sabha elections, the Union Cabinet approved a hike in dearness allowance (DA) to 100 per cent from existing 90 per cent and its merger with basic salary, benefiting 50 lakh Central government employees and 30 lakh pensioners.

The Cabinet in its last meeting before the Lok Sabha elections, also approved Rs 1,000 per month as the minimum pension under EPFO scheme.

Despite the DA hike the employees are eagerly waiting for the announcement on DA merger, 7th pay commission terms of reference and retirement age hike. However no information in this regard is available so far.
Update

The raising of superannuation age was originally a part of the Terms of Reference of the Seventh Pay Commission.

Since the Commission report is expected not before 2016, a decision on raising the retirement age cannot happen before that.

So, the reference to retirement age has been removed from the ToR of the 7th Pay Commission and it is speculated that the same may be brought as a supplementary agenda.

This is not the last cabinet meeting before the election. Some of the items from the agenda have been deferred. Sources saying there could be a decision at another Cabinet meeting on Saturday.
