Here's why you shouldn't get carried away by July CPI
The consumer price inflation (CPI) for the month of July stood at 9.86%. But, this figure according to CNBC-TV18's banking editor Latha Venkatesh is a not good enough to rejoice despite it slippling below 10% for the first time after few months.


She explains why:


9.86% is not terribly good enough because this time the base was excellent. July of 2011 was a particularly high CPI number, the fuel and food prices shot up at that time. So, the month-on-month increase over the past three-four months has been 1.2%.
