Cabinet Approves 78 days PLB  for the Railway employees The Union Cabinet on today approved the the Ministry of Railways proposal for payment of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) Railwayequivalent to 78 days wages for the financial year 2011-12 for all eligible non-gazetted railway employees.

The employees union were pushing for 80 days equivalent wages as the PLB.

The amount will have a ceiling of Rs 3,500 a month.

About 12.37 lakh non-gazetted railway employees are likely to benefit from the decision. The proposal, seen as one of the biggest sops for government employees, also comes after the exit of Trinamool Congress member Mukul Roy as railway minister.



The decision of the Cabinet shall be implemented before the holidays this year as well.

The order for the bonus is yet to be issued. The issue of PLB to eligible railway employees is made each year before the Dusshera/Puja holidays.
