Cabinet approves 7th CPC allowances. HRA as per recommendation

The wait has come to an end. The Union Cabinet has approved the reformed the allowance structure under Seventh Central Pay Commission.

Here are the updates

  • The HRA will be as per the recommendation at 24%, 16% and 8% for X, Y & Z category cities respectively.
  • However the minimum HRA is fixed at Rs. 5400/-, Rs. 3600/- and Rs. 1800/- respectively (i.e. 30%, 20% and 10% of the minimum pay of Rs. 18000/-
  • The rates will be revised to 27%, 18% and 9% when the DA reaches 25% (against recommendation of 50%) and to 30%, 20% and 10% when the DA reaches 50% (against recommendation of 100%)
