Female staff to be reimbursed for IVF treatment

The State government employees will now be eligible for the reimbursement of the expenditure for the IVF treatment. The facility exists for the Central government employees.

The reimbursement will[ have an upper ceiling of Rs. 60,000. The fertility treatment is basically in-vitro fertilisation, which women undergo at certain specialized centers. There is, however, no clarity on whether the spouse of a government employee (male) is eligible.

However, there will also be an age restriction to undergo the treatment. The Center introduced the scheme in March wherein the employees undergoing the treatment (test tube baby) would be eligible for a reimbursement of not more than Rs. 65,000. Further, they should undergo the treatment at a government hospital or if it is in a private hospital which has to be registered for the same.
