Admissions schedule for KVS 2022-2023 (Revised)

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has extended the deadline for applications to various Kendriya Vidyalaya schools across the country for admissions to Class 1. The extension was based on the court cases pertaining to the change in age criteria for class 1 admission, which was earlier five years and now changed to six years based on the 2020 National Education Policy. 

In a petition, a five-year-old girl has claimed that the change in age criteria, which was earlier five years, is in violation of the right to education guaranteed to the petitioner under Articles 14, 21, and 21-A of the Constitution as well as under the provisions of Delhi School Education Act, 1973 and Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. 

The petitioner, a UKG student represented by Agarwal, claimed that KVS abruptly modified the admission criterion for classes 1 to 6 by releasing the Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Guidelines on its portal barely four days before the admission process began last month.

The KVS extended the deadline for filing an application to April 11, after which the court granted the Central government and KVS 10 days to file their counter-affidavits and set the subject for further review on April 5.
