OROP pension revision - table of revised pension and arrears

OROP pension revision - table of revised pension and arrears

On December 23, the Union Cabinet adopted the revised One Rank-One Pension (OROP) system for retired members of the armed services and their families.

According to the most recent revision, the pension of former retirees will be recalculated based on the average of the minimum and maximum pensions of Defence Forces retirees with the same rank and duration of service from the calendar year 2018. This amendment applies to retired members of the armed forces up until June 30, 2019, excluding those who retired on or after July 1, 2014 due to a medical condition.

More than 25.13 lakh military forces pensioners and family pensioners, including more than 4.52 lakh additional beneficiaries, will benefit from the change. Those with a pension above the average will be protected. The income would also be extended to family pensioners, such as battle widows and the disabled.

The arrears will be paid in four semi-annual instalments. To the contrary, all family pensioners, including those already receiving Special or Liberalized Family Pension and Gallantry Award Winners, shall get their arrears in a single instalment.
