CCS Pension Rules 2021: Rule book released by Amit Shah

CCS Pension Rules 2021: Rule book released by Amit Shah

Shri Amit Shah, Hon'ble Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon'ble Minister of State, Personnel, PG and Pensions, and Shri Sanjay Singh, Secretary, Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare, released the CCS (Pension) Rules Book 2021 on Good Governance Day.

The Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules 2021 supersede the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules 1972, and the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare has reviewed and rationalised the pension rules for Central Civil Government employees. The Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules apply to Central Civil Government employees hired prior to January 1, 2004. The National Pension System covers employees hired on or after January 1, 2004. The rules regulate pension and retirement gratuity upon a Government servant's retirement, as well as family pension and death gratuity upon the death of a Government servant/pensioner.

The government decided to simplify the guidelines and provide a revised and updated version of them. The amended Rules make no modifications to the amount of pension, family pension, or gratuity that can be received. However, the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021, although incorporating changes and directives given during the last 50 years, introduce significant new policy and procedural enhancements over the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972. (The Pension Rule Book 2021 can be seen on the DOPPW website, pensionersportal.gov.in.)
