The central government employees are in wait for a hike in minimum pay to Rs 21,000 from current Rs 18,000 as per the 7th Pay Commission. 
          
The government is likely to soon announce the decision of raising the minimum pay for central government employees considering the inflationary pressure, a media report said. 
         
A Ministry of Finance official said that this rise in minimum pay as per 7th Pay Commission is because the government felt the current minimum pay was not "helpful" for maintaining living standards.

The hike in minimum pay to Rs 21,000 will raise the fitment factor 3 times from current 2.57 times. 

As per the report, the step likely to be taken by the National Anomaly Committee soon.
