78-day wages as bonus likey for Railway employees The Railways is likely to announce 78-day wages as bonus, same as last year, for its employees for 2012-13.

"The proposal for declaring 78-day productivity-linked bonus for railway employees is being finalised with railway unions and it will go to the Cabinet for a final decision," a senior Railway Ministry official said.

The NIFR and AIRF had demanded for the bonus to be increased from the last years 78 days. A Joint Appeal By AIRF and NFIR was submitted to the Chairman, Railway Board in this regard. The federations claimed that the comparison with the performance of the year 2011- 12, the Indian Railways have achieved still better results during the year 2012-13.

There were also talks of proposal of reducing the PL Bonus days stating “Capital Weightage and modified Staff Strength”.

The productivity-linked bonus is paid to railway employees each year before the Dussehra festival.
