DoPT has forwarded proposal on hiking retirement age to PMO The news about the proposal to raise the retirement age of the central government employees from 60 to 62 years is still making rounds. It is understood that the Ministry of Personnel and Training has forwarded the proposal in this regard to the Prime Minister's office (PMO) for inclusion in the agenda of the Cabinet for consideration, with the consent of various ministries, sources said, claiming that it has an approval of the finance ministry, which is to benefit by this move by deferring the retirement benefits by two years. The decision will help immensely those on the verge of retirement to continue in service for two years. The political reason behind the move is the upcoming Delhi assembly election in November.
