The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, has approved an enhancement of the Ex-Gratia Death Relief Fund from ₹8.00 lakh to ₹8.80 lakh for the families of deceased Central Board employees who pass away due to non-Covid-19 (normal) deaths. This amount will be disbursed to the nominee or legal heirs from the Welfare Fund. The revised benefit is effective from April 1, 2024, and the additional relief amount for eligible cases has been allocated to the respective Zonal Offices. The payment must be made immediately without any delay.

Sir/Madam,
I am directed to refer to the above-mentioned letters on the subject cited above and to convey approval of the Central Provident Fund Commissioner/ President, Central Staff Welfare Committee, Employees’ Provident Fund to enhance the amount of the Ex-gratia Death Relief Fund from Rs. 8.00 Lakh to Rs. 8.80 Lakh. The ex-gratia Death Relief Fund. of Rs. 8.80 Lakh (Rs. Eight Lakh Eighty thousand only) shall be paid to the family members (nominees or legal heirs) of the deceased employee of the Central Board from the Welfare Fund.
2. The instructions shall come into force with effect from 01.04.2024. The additional ORF amount of each death case (date of death is after 01.04.2024) has been allotted to the respective Zonal Office. A list of eligible cases who will receive an additional DRF amount is attached as Annexure-I.
3. The additional DRF amount as per the above rates shall be paid to the family members (nominee or legal heirs) of the deceased employee immediately without any delay.
