Mozilla demonstrates low cost smart phone that may cost only Rs. 1500/- The Mozilla Firefox, in partnership with Chinese low-cost chip maker Spreadtrum has showcased a smartphone that costs approximately Rs.1,500.

The phone runs on Firefox OS developed by Mozilla. Firefox OS devices are the first devices built entirely to open Web standards, with every feature developed as an HTML5 application.

The smartphone is powered by Spreadtrum’s SC6821 chipset.The device has 3.5” HVGA touchscreen. It has an inbuilt storage of 4GB.

The handset houses 5 megapixel rear camera and a front facing camera.

The connectivity options are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The phone is not expected to be available in India soon
