DA arrears - NC JCM, DoPT, Fin Min meeting on June 26

A meeting is convened with the representatives of the National Council, JCM, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) and the Ministry of Finance on 26th June 2021. The officials are to discuss the de-freezing of the Dearness Allowance and the Dearness Relief. With this expectations are mounting on the hike in the DA & DR. The meeting will be chaired by the cabinet secretary of India. The meeting was initially scheduled for 8th May 2021 but had to be postponed due to the 2nd wave pandemic that gripped the national capital.

The details were divulged by Shri. Shiva Gopal Mishra, Secretary, Staff Side, National Council of JCM. He informed "Official meeting between the officials of the Department of Expenditure at the Ministry of Finance, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) and the representatives of JCM is going to take place on 26th June 2021. The scheduled meeting will be chaired by the cabinet secretary of India."

It is understood that the agenda points of the meeting also includes DA arrears payment to the central government employees. However informal sources indicate that dearness allowance will be paid prospectively and no arrears will be paid (Read: Hiked DA likely to be paid from July 1, 2021, prospectively without arrears)  

Shri Mishra said that the DA/DR arrears payment due for 1.1.2020, 1.7.2020 and 1.1.2021 to the central government employees and pensioners will be discussed in the meeting.

Mishra added that the NC JCM is hopeful of a positive outcome and that the Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Finance officials were supportive of the arrears disbursement.
