Samajwadi Party leader : UPA II government may not be able to pay salaries to Central government employees

Samajwadi Party leader : UPA II government may not be able to pay salaries to Central government employees Senior Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Ram Gopal Yadav said on Sunday that the Congress-led UPA II government had drained the country's coffers to the extent that they may not be able to pay salaries to Central government employees in the near future. Saying the situation was deteriorating at an alarming pace, Yadav said it will not be long before such a situation occurs, especially if Delhi does not take drastic measures soon.

Seen as a key strategist and think-tank for the Samajwadi Party, Ram Gopal was addressing a function in Firozabad. Targeting the UPAII government, Ram Gopal said, "My colleagues in Rajya Sabha told me that the day was not far when Central government employees will have to wait for their salaries. This is the extent to which things have gone wrong."

Focusing his attack on the Congress and its "failed governance",

Ram Gopal also voiced his criticism against the ambitious Food Security ordinance, saying it will bring about a situation where poor farmers will have to sell their produce at prices decided by the government, since there will be no takers for the farm produce in retail markets
