PAN - Aadhar linking due date extended to 30 September 2021

PAN - Aadhar linking due date extended to 30 September 2021

The government has extended the last date for the PAN and Aadhar linking by three months to 30 September. Earlier, the deadline to link the two was March 31, which the income tax department had extended earlier to June 30 in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The taxpayers can now finish the linking by 30 June or else the PAN becomes invalid.

As per Section 139AA, it is mandatory for every person to quote Aadhaar number in their income tax return and the application for the allotment of PAN, provided they are eligible to get Aadhaar.

The IT department has provided multiple options for linking the Aadhaar card with PAN. The linking of the Aadhaar number with PAN can be done online by logging on to the income tax e-filing portal. You can do this either by logging into your account or without logging in. You can also link your Aadhaar and PAN through SMS also. The taxpayers can link their Aadhaar with their PAN, by sending an SMS to either 567678 or 56161. Send SMS to 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number in the following format:

UIDPAN<SPACE><12 digit Aadhaar><Space><10 digit PAN>
