Unvaccinated Punjab employees to be sent on compulsory leave

Unvaccinated Punjab employees to be sent on compulsory leave

The Punjab government has announced that the state government employees who have not taken at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be sent on compulsory leave. The state plans to implement this from September 15 onwards. Exemptions are given to those who haven’t taken the coronavirus vaccine for medical reasons.

The school staff both teaching and non-teaching will be allowed to join their duties at school after at least four weeks of taking the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Employees with co-morbidities will be exempted to join duty at the schools till the time they are fully vaccinated.

News agency ANI quoted the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office as saying: “Punjab government employees failing to take even the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for any reason other than medical will be compulsorily sent on leave after September 15.”

“Special efforts were taken to reach out to government employees, and those who continue to avoid getting vaccinated will now be asked to go on leave till they get the first dose,” the CMO said in a release.
