Aadhaar to be made mandatory for IT efiling The government has mad a proposal in the parliament to make the Aadhaar number mandatory for efiling IT returns. The proposal also makes it madatory for the Aadhar verification for the new PAN application.

The new rules are to be with effect from July. The government is planning to bring in these provisions as amendments to the Finance Bill, which needs approval of Lok Sabha only where the government has a huge majority.

From April 1 onwards, Aadhaar IDs will be a pre-requisite for opening an Employee Provident Fund

The government is working on linking all bank accounts to Aadhaar numbers.
