Skip to mainEvery pensioner needs to submit evidence of life through the Life Certificate to be submitted to the organisation or to the disbursing bank or post office during the month of November.
Even though once in a year, this exercise is a difficult one for the aged person especially those whose movement is restricted by age-related issues.
To overcome this the government had earlier introduced the Digital Life Certificates (DLC). The has become extremely helpful during this pandemic with many people have got stuck in places away from the places where they have their pension accounts and vulnerability of an aged person to catch the infection makes it a life risk to go out to get the Life Certificate. It has made DLC a preferred mode of getting the Jeevan Praman. However, to get a DLC from the comfort of home, a pensioner require to possesses digital skills like using a mobile app, that in many scenarios will not be the case
For such pensioners, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched the doorstep DLC service that will facilitate the generation of digital life certificate by having integration with the application designed and maintained by NIC.
Under this, a Postman from the nearest Post Office offering the service – armed with Aadhaar based biometric fingerprint scanner – would visit a pensioner on request and complete the process of generating DLC at the home of the pensioner only.
The postman will visit the pensioner's home and assist in making the Digital Life Certificate. He will take a thumb impression through a biometric machine. He will collect the required details like pension number, pension pay order (PPO).
The completely paperless issuance of Aadhaar based biometric-enabled DLC for pensioners costs. as low as Rs 70/-
To get the DLC issued instantly at doorstep through Postman or at the Post Office near you, the following details/documents will be needed:
Once you authorise your request with a biometric fingerprint scan, the DLC will be instantly generated with Pramaan ID sent to you on your mobile.
Moreover, you don’t even need to travel to the Pension Department or bank, as your Certificate details will be automatically uploaded with the Pension Department.
You also need not be a customer of the India Post Payments Bank to avail this service.
