Banks to issue pension slips while crediting pension via SMS or email

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued an office memorandum Pension Disbursing Banks to issue pension slips to pensioners after the credit of pension on their registered mobile numbers through SMS and email. Additionally, banks can send the details via social media apps like Whatsapp. The pension slip should provide complete details of the monthly pension paid along with the break-up of the amount credited and tax deductions etc.

The decision in this regard was taken at the meeting was held with the CPPCs of Pension Disbursing Banks on 15.06.2021, The meeting was held with the aim of ensuring “Ease of Living’ of the Pensioners. The banks were asked to follow this as a welfare measure, as this information is required by pensioners in connection with Income Tax, Dearness Relief payment, DR arrears, etc. The idea has been welcomed by the banks and expressed their willingness to provide the information.
