50 per cent attendance restriction to continue till June 30, 2021

50 per cent attendance restriction to continue till June 30, 2021

The Department of Personnel & Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued an office memorandum that orders the continuation of the earlier order on the regulation of the attendance of employees below the level of undersecretaries. The measures will now continue till June 30. However, the employees of the level of undersecretaries and above are required to attend office on all working days

As per the order, the attendance of central government employees below the rank of undersecretaries should be restricted to 50 per cent of the total strength. The remaining employees should be asked to work from home and they should be available on the telephone and other electronic means of communication as required.

The order also permits persons with disabilities and pregnant women employees to be exempted from attending office, but have to continue to work from home. The staff residing in the containment zones are also exempted from coming to offices.

The order also asks to follow staggered timings to avoid crowding during the entry and exiting from the office. It asks for the meetings wherever possible to be via video-conferencing and also to avoid in-person meetings with visitors, unless absolutely necessary.
