India's most expensive scooter - Vespa VX launched
Piaggio, on Thursday, launched India's most expensive scooter - the Vespa VX. The two wheeler will be priced at Rs.71,380 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra unveiled the Vespa VX in two new colors- Portovenere Verde (metallic green) and Vibrante Rosa (dual tone red and pink).

The new Vespa VX comes equipped with more features to make it a more appealing product. The scooter comes with a 200mm front disc brake, MRF Zapper tubeless tires and a new grab rail. The scooter also gets a beige seat option.

Vespa VX Launch
Mechanically, the Vespa VX remains unchanged and continues to be powered by the same 125cc, four stroke, 3-valve single cylinder engine that has a max power output of 10.06PS@7,500rpm and peak torque of 10.6Nm@6,000rpm. The motor comes mated to a CVT transmission. The scooter features monocoque chassis and linked suspension at front and single-sided suspension at rear.The Vespa VX has a claimed FE of 60 kms to a litre.

Vespa was one of the brands identified with scooter during yesteryears. However it gave way to the motorbikes over the years. But last year the company through its wholly-owned subsidiary Piaggio Vehiclesmade a huge comeback with its Vespa LX in the Indian market. The scooter was a huge success with being able to attract young coustomer. The company claims to have so far sold 52,000 units of Vespa LX since its launch last year.

“We hope to further strengthen the premium segment with Vespa VX,” Mr. Chopra said, adding that the company was not planning to venture into the commuter segment.

Asked if the company is planning to further expand the scooter range, he said, “There can be another product launch by the end of this year. We want to have different products for different consumer needs.”
