Haryana healthcare professionals threaten indefinite strike from Dec 29

The healthcare professionals of the Haryana Health Department have escalated their actions following a two-hour pen-down strike at government health facilities. They've now threatened an indefinite strike starting on December 29 if their demands are unmet within two weeks. This decision was reached during the core committee meeting of the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA), representing government healthcare workers.

The plan outlined includes initiating a complete day-long strike on December 27, where all services, including outpatient departments (OPDs), will be boycotted. Dr. Rajesh Khyalia, HCMSA president, expressed regret at inconclusive discussions held with ACS Health G Anupama on December 6, stating, "We have waited for the government's response for two years. Unfortunately, our recent meeting didn't yield results. Regrettably, we have no choice but to take this step. Our intention isn't to inconvenience the public, but we feel compelled."

Dr. Khyalia emphasized that their demands aren't new but are focused on pressing matters previously accepted by the government and the honourable Chief Minister. Alongside the call for an Assured Career Progression (ACP) akin to that in New Delhi and the central government, the medical professionals are demanding a specialist cadre, reduced surety amounts for those willing to pursue post-graduation, and a halt or restriction on the appointment of Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) through direct recruitment in the state.
