KVS to review admissions under Special Provisions currently kept on hold

KVS to review admissions under Special Provisions currently kept on hold

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), is reviewing its decision to put Member of Parliament and other discretionary quotas for admissions "on hold," and a final order will be issued soon,

The Special Provisions for Admissions have 17 categories, and KVS is currently reviewing which ones can be kept and which ones should be eliminated. Because of the increased enrollment, schools are becoming overcrowded, making it difficult to maintain the required student-teacher ratio.

The education minister, MPs, KVS officials, Delhi Development Authority officials, and other government officials can recommend children for admission under the discretionary quotas or "Special Provisions." Each official is only allowed to recommend a certain number of admissions, according to the rules. Every academic year, for example, each MP is allowed to recommend the names of ten students.

"No admissions should be made under the Special Provisions (under part 1 of Part B) until further orders," KVS stated in a circular dated April 12, 2022.

According to KVS sources, a final order will be released soon.

Kendriya Vidyalayas are central government schools overseen by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), which makes decisions on admission policies and other administrative matters. The purpose of KVs was to provide space for children of government employees who are regularly transferred due to work or Army personnel who are assigned to difficult areas. However, the number of children from other families has gradually grown.
