UP Govt to announce DA hike for State Employees soon

Following the recent increases in dearness allowance by the Centre and various state governments for their respective employees, the Uttar Pradesh government is now considering a 4% hike in DA for its state government employees. According to a report from Zee Business, the Yogi Adityanath government has proposed this increase, pending approval from the chief minister. Once the proposal is approved, the state government employees will receive the 4% DA hike.

If the DA hike is approved, it will benefit over 12 lakh teachers/employees and 7 lakh pensioners in the UP government.

The enhanced DA will come into effect from July 1, along with arrears for the previous period, once the state cabinet approves the proposal. The aim is to align the DA increase with the Centre's policies. Notably, the Yogi Adityanath government had previously approved a DA increase on May 15, which took effect from January 2023.

Earlier last month, on October 18, the Central government decided to raise the dearness allowance for its employees by 4 percentage points, bringing it to 46% of the basic salary. They also announced a bonus equivalent to 78 days of salary for non-gazetted railway staff. Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated that this increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief will benefit 48.67 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners, respectively.
