West Bengal hikes dearness allowance by 3%

West Bengal hikes dearness allowance by 3%

The West Bengal government on Wednesday announced a hike of three per cent in the dearness allowance (DA) for all state government employees and retired persons.

The West Bengal state budget for the fiscal year 2023–24 was presented in the State Assembly by Chandrima Bhattacharya, the state minister of finance (independent charge), on Wednesday.

Last year, in November, state government employees protested outside the West Bengal assembly in Kolkata demanding a hike in dearness allowance at par with the central government employees. The employees stated that the Mamata Banerjee government has not paid them the revised dearness allowance after the seventh pay commission was implemented.
