Himachal Pradesh announces new pay scales

Himachal Pradesh announces new pay scales

The Himachal Pradesh government has established new pay scales for its employees as per 6th Pay Commission. The revised pay scales for state employees will be effective from January 1, 2016.

As a result, the salary for January 2022 will be paid in February 2022. In addition, the state administration has lowered the time it takes for contractual staff to be regularised from three to two years.

In the case of daily wage employees, part-time workers, water guards, and others, the state CM stated that one year will be lowered for regularization/daily wage conversion.

On amended pay scales and updated pension/family pension, Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be offered. Starting January 1, 2016, all pensioners and their families will receive revised pensions and other benefits.

According to CM Thakur, the new pay scales and revised pension would put an additional burden of ₹6,000 crores annually on the state exchequer.

Chief Minister also announced the release of an additional ₹10 crores for clearance of pending medical reimbursement bills.

According to an Office Memorandum from the central government to state government employees dated 5 May 2009, Thakur also announced the introduction of the New Pension System, which will take effect on May 15, 2003. He estimated that the state's budget would be burdened by an additional 250 crore.

According to the chief minister, NPS employees will now be able to invest in whichever pension fund they like, assuring better returns. Until he continued, these employees had to invest solely in government-selected pension funds. He stated that all NPS personnel were entitled to Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity payments and that the government has finally agreed to provide Gratuity to NPS employees who were denied this benefit between May 15, 2003, and September 22, 2017.
