90000 plus new Covid cases in the coutry

In the last 24 hours, India recorded 90,928 new COVID-19 cases, up 55% from yesterday's 58,097 cases. There are 2,630 cases of the Omicron variation in the country, with 797 cases in Maharashtra and 465 cases in Delhi.

The weekly rate of positivity is 3.47 per cent, while the daily rate is 6.43 per cent. The current recovery rate is 97.81 per cent. In the previous 24 hours, at least 19,206 people have recovered. There have been 3,43,41,009 persons who have recovered. Active cases make up less than 1% of total cases, with 0.81 per cent now active. The total number of active cases is 2,14,004.

In the meantime, the first Omicron-related fatality, which occurred on December 31, 2021, has been confirmed. The 73-year-old man had comorbidities and his genome sequencing report revealed that he was infected with the Omicron variation, according to the health ministry.

On January 4, around 25.2 lakh cases of the infection were recorded all over the world which is "the highest ever since the onset of the pandemic"
