ORDNANCE FACTORY

443. SHRI NABA KUMAR SARANIA:

Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to state:

(a) the details of the Ordnance factories established/existing in the country, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether there is any proposal to increase the capacity of Ordnance factories and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether there is any proposal to privatize Jabalpur Ordnance factory and if so, the details thereof along with the reasons behind the same;

(d) the total number of employees working in Ordnance factories across the country; and

(e) the proposal of the Government to secure the future of these employees in case of privatisation of Jabalpur Ordnance factory?

A N S W E R

MINISTER OF STATE (SHRI AJAY BHATT) IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE

(a): Details of Ordnance factories established/existing in the country, State/UT-wise is attached as Annexure:

(b): Yes, Sir. Ordnance Factories under the new DPSUs continuously enhance/upgrade their capacity by establishing new Plant and Machineries as per the futuristic requirements of Defence Stores.

(c): No, Sir.

(d): As on 01.07.2023, a total of 66,429 numbers of employees are working in 41 Ordnance factories, under the 07 newly created DPSUs, across the country.

(e): Does not arise in view of reply to part (c).
