New CGHS facilities in Panchkula and Chandigarh inagurated

In an effort to prioritize accessible and high-quality healthcare for every citizen of India, the government has placed significant emphasis on expanding the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) facilities. This commitment was underscored by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, during the inauguration of the CGHS Wellness Centres in Chandigarh and Panchkula on June 9th.

With the addition of CGHS facilities in Panchkula, the city has now become the 80th in India to benefit from these services, effectively fulfilling a longstanding demand of the employees and pensioners residing in the area. Previously, Chandigarh had already been equipped with a CGHS Wellness Centre, which catered to a substantial number of registered beneficiaries totaling 47,000 individuals. By opening the second Wellness Centre, the government has significantly alleviated the burden on the beneficiaries, as the workload will now be divided between the two centres. Consequently, this division of responsibilities will lead to a reduction in waiting times, ultimately enhancing the ease of living for the citizens seeking healthcare services in the region.
