Minister approves termination of 10 senior DoT officials of doubtful integrity

According to a source, Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has authorised the forced retirement of 10 senior Telecom Department (DoT) officers, including a joint secretary, as part of the government's zero tolerance stance against corruption.

The insider claimed that the minister made the choice in response to reports of negligence and corruption, adding that the officers have "doubtful integrity." Nine of the ten officials had director-level positions, and one held the rank of joint secretary.

The evidence indicates that the forced retirements were granted in accordance with Section 56 (J) of Pension Rule 48 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972.

On the occasion of "Good Governance Day," which the Central government observes annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Vaishnaw made the decision.

The minister, who also oversees the railways, has already approved the forced retirement of roughly 40 railway department employees due to their poor performance and questionable integrity.
