Skip to mainThe Finance Ministry has issued an Office Memorandum, whereby hereafter there is no mandatory requirement to make official flight travel by Air India. Air India’s monopoly over flying millions of government employees is ending after its privatisation. Earlier the government employees had to book tickets from Air India in the sectors it serviced. For the places, where there were no Air India flights or its subsidiaries, prior permission from the authority of the rank of Joint Secretary or above was required for flying by private airlines. As per the new order, for official travel, the officers are required to book tickets through the three Authorized Travel Agents, who will book tickets based on the best available fare.
