ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES
AND PENSIONS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE
(DR. JITENDRA SINGH)

(a) to (f): Occurrence and filling up of vacancies in various Ministries/Departments is a continuous process. These vacancies arise due to retirement, promotion, resignation, death etc.

Filling up of vacant post is the responsibility of concerned Ministries/Departments. All Ministries/ Departments of the Central Government are being asked, from time to time, to take action in a mission mode to fill up vacant posts in a time bound manner. Rozgar Melas, being organized by Government of India, are expected to act as catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in National Development directly.

The Department of Expenditure is currently following up with other wings of the government to expedite pending appointments.

Regular follow-ups are being made to fill the vacant positions, so that the stated target of eliminating 1 million vacancies is met by December 2023, ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.

Even as the nodal ministry for filling vacant positions in the government is the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Department of Expenditure’s Establishment Coordination (Personnel) division is providing support for the recruitment drive.
