Railways discontinues OTP verification for e-Pass on the HRMS

Railways discontinues OTP verification for e-Pass on the HRMS

The railways have changed the method of authentication for the e-Pass Module of HRMS   On the 24th of August 2020, Indian Railways launched e-Pass on HRMS Module through Human Resource Management System (HRMS) Portal, which was rolled out across Indian Railways on 01/10/2020. Currently, log logging in, an OTP is sent to the user's registered mobile. There were a lot of complaints regarding the receipt of OTPs such as not receiving or delayed receipt.  The system for generating OTP while booking tickets on e-Pass has been discontinued. For the e-pass booking, a PIN (Personal Identification Number) will be used. This will be sent to the user along with the UPN Message mobile during the generation of e-Pass. This PIN can be used throughout the validity of the e-Pass. In case the user forgets or want to change this PIN, it can be done by selecting the desired pass number and clicking the "Send SMS" or "Send email" button under the "Resend Pass SMS" tab.
