Cong to expose BJP's betrayal of ex-servicemen, army men on OROP & other issues

Following the farmers' problem, Congress will now campaign for Army personnel's rights in the next state Assembly elections.

On January 28, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Devendra Yadav, and Mohan Prakash, among other Congress leaders, will host a press conference in Dehradun to address the subject of army personnel's rights. DK Shivkumar will hold a press conference in Goa, Harish Rawat in Haldwani, and Sachin Pilot in Chandigarh, respectively.

At Almora, Captain Davar will hold a meeting. Prithviraj Chavan, the former Maharashtra chief minister, will also hold a press conference in Lucknow, while Deependra Hooda will speak in Meerut. Similar news conferences will be held in Varanasi by Congress leaders Vijender Singh and Supriya Srinet.

The strategy of the Congress, according to Pranav Jha, secretary in charge of information, is to stress the army issue during the elections. Congress is also releasing a brochure titled "Vote in the name of bravery - harm to the army's interests."

According to Jha, the BJP government is compromising the Indian Army's valour for political gain.

"The BJP government is defrauding 30 lakh, ex-servicemen, under the guise of 'One Rank, One Pension.' Soldiers' 'disability pensions' were subjected to a tax imposed by the Centre. The BJP government, in addition to turning its back on the army, discriminated against civilian employees in the Seventh Pay Commission, harmed ex-rehabilitation servicemen's and career opportunities, and weakened military influence. Issues like this will also be publicly discussed "Jha said.
