Closed holiday on April 14 declared on account of Ambedkar Jayanti

The central government offices will remain closed on Friday, April 14, to commemorate the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar. The DoPT has issued an office memorandum in this regard. The holiday is declared under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, of 1881. The central government employees will again get three consecutive holidays this weekend also. Last weekend also there were three holidays on account of Good Friday.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Declaration of Holiday on 14th April, 2023 — Birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

It has been decided to declare the 14th of April 2023, (Friday), as a closed holiday on account of the birthday of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, for all Central Government Offices including Industrial Establishments, throughout India, by invoking the powers under section 25 of Negotiable Instruments Act,1881 (26 of 18871).

2. All Ministries/Departments of the Government of India may bring the above decision to the notice of all concerned.
