Assam constitutes commission for one lakh Class III and IV recruitment

Assam constitutes commission for one lakh Class III and IV recruitment

The Assam Assembly passed a bill on Thursday to establish a direct recruitment commission for Class III and IV positions in various government departments and establishments. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the body would be created on an experimental basis to appoint one lakh youths as part of the BJP's election promise. He added that the exercise will help to expedite the recruitment process while also saving the government money.

"If we are successful in the exercise and there are no complaints, we can make it a permanent Staff Selection Commission type institution," he said in response to suggestions from the opposition bench.

The Assam Direct Recruitment Commissions for Analogous Posts in Class-III and Class-IV Bill, 2021, seeks to regulate the process of direct recruitment to the aforementioned posts with similar eligibility requirements by holding a common selection test.

The Bill, which was introduced on Monday and unanimously passed on Thursday, will exempt aspiring candidates from applying for and appearing in various recruitment tests for similar positions in various departments.

According to the Bill, two state-level Direct Recruitment Commissions will be notified for recruitment in all technical and non-technical posts of both classes, with the exception of certain posts or categories of posts that the government may exclude from its purview. With the approval of the government, the Commissions will conduct any part or all of the recruitment process themselves or through any other institution or agency deemed competent.

"My hope is that our young people will have faith in the recruitment process." A university or the Board of Secondary Education will conduct the entire recruitment process. ”My attempt is that our youths have faith in the recruitment process. Entire recruitment will be done by a university or the Board of Secondary Education, Assam. No private agency will be involved in the process,” Sarma said.
