21,255 posts of Group A are vacant in Central Government

Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh (Jitendra Singh) in a written reply on Thursday in the Rajya Sabha (Rajya Sabha) told that the Central Government (Central GovernmentThere are 21,255 Group A posts vacant in the services of ) and filling up of vacancies is a continuous process. Also said that the Government issues instructions from time to time to all the Ministries/Departments to take timely and advance action to fill up the vacant posts. The Union Minister’s response to CPI(M) MP Dr V Sivadasan’s questions told the Upper House that according to the Department of Expenditure, 21,255 Group A posts and 7,56,146 Group C posts are vacant under the Government of India as of March 1, 2020.

The Union Minister further said in a written reply that in pursuance of the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, all Group ‘D’ posts of the Central Government have been upgraded to Group ‘C’ posts. Also said that as of today there is no Group ‘D’ post in the Central Government. Filling up of vacancies is a continuous process. The Government issues instructions from time to time to all the Ministries/Departments to take timely and advance action to fill up the vacant posts. The latest such instructions have been issued vide Department of Personnel and Training’s Office Memorandum No. 43014/03/2019.
