40% reservation for women if Congress comes to power in UP

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress leader, promised on Wednesday that if the grand old party wins the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, women will get 40% reservation in government jobs. Priyanka, who is in charge of congress's UP affairs, said the manifesto is a roadmap for inclusive and all-round growth of the state as she released a special manifesto for women at the party office in Lucknow. The women-centric manifesto by the UP Congress will be the first of its kind. The party has been promising many things for the women ranging from a 40 per cent stake for women in ticket distribution for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to promising electric Scooters.

We prepared ‘women manifesto’ where we want to say we actually want to empower them. We’ll have to create environment where shackles can be broken with their opinion, where they get full participation in politics & participation in society that ends their exploitation, said Ms. Vadra

She stated that the election document prioritises women and seeks to empower them. She reiterated that the grand old party will give women 40% of the seats. When women will truly be a part of politics then it will be translated not on paper but on ground. She told that Congress gave the first woman PM to the country. Congress’ Sucheta Kripalani was the first woman CM. Our country had the first woman PM when other countries had very low women representation at that level.

"We prepared a 'women manifesto,' in which we stated that we want to empower women. We will need to create an environment in which their opinions can be freed, where they can participate fully in politics and society, and where their exploitation can be ended "She stated.

According to Priyanka, the Congress party's government will build hostels in 25 cities and open evening schools for girls. She also stated that graduate girls will be given scootys and Class 12th pass girls will be given smartphones. Furthermore, if a girl is born into a poor family, the government will open an FD account for her.

Priyanka also told reporters that the Congress government will prioritise women in MNERGA.
