The income tax department on Wednesday said it has launched the ‘AIS for Taxpayer’ mobile app, which will help taxpayers get a comprehensive view of information related to the tax deducted or collected at source, interest, dividends and share transactions.
All information is part of the Annual Information Statement (AIS) that was launched by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) a few years ago, to help provide all available data to taxpayers at the time of filing returns. The AIS also offers the option to provide feedback in case of discrepancies in the data that the tax authorities receive from banks or registration offices.
“The app is aimed to provide a comprehensive view of the AIS/TIS to the taxpayer which displays the information collected from various sources pertaining to the taxpayer,” CBDT said in a statement, adding that the app is currently available for Android users.
To access this mobile app, the taxpayer needs to register on the app by providing the PAN number, authenticate with the OTP sent on mobile number and e-mail registered on the e-filing portal. She can then can set a 4-digit PIN to access the mobile app.
