Soon trains to have train hostesses like the air hostesses

In order to improve customer service, the railways will soon install train hostesses or train attendants on the lines of flight attendants in luxury trains such as the Vande Bharat, Gatimaan, and Tejas Express.  According to a senior official, the decision to install train hostesses was made with the goal of providing improved passenger amenities to passengers travelling on certain trains. It will not be a completely female crew, but rather a mixed crew with a male attendant inducted to give hospitality services to passengers travelling on Indian Railways' luxury trains.

The hostesses on the train will be just like air hostesses on the planes, and the catering will be on par with airline standards. The train hostesses will welcome passengers as they board the train, offer food, and listen to complaints. The railway attendants will be dressed similarly. Obviously, the railways want to compete with airlines Only women who have received training in the field of hospitality will be hired. These hostesses will only work throughout the day and will not be enlisted to work overnight. The hostesses are also not planned for long-distance premium trains such as the Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express.

At the moment, Indian Railways runs roughly 25 premium trains, including 12 Shatabdi, one Gatimaan, two Vande Bharat, and one Tejas Express. Meanwhile, the Indian Railways has opted to provide freshly cooked food on Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Gatiman Express trains, which is a significant step toward the restoration of passenger services.

An order has already been issued to all pertinent departments and stakeholders in this regard. The situation had been investigated, and it had been agreed to begin serving prepared items in trains, according to the instruction. Zonal Railways would validate the catering costs to be realised based on services supplied and the applicable rate list, and upload the same into the PRS programme for enabling booking/opting out of Catering services, starting from the ARP date, at the time of ticket booking.
