Jal Board withdraws OM that provided Muslim staff 2-hour break daily

The Delhi Jal Board withdrew the order, which provided all Muslim employees with a two-hour break every day during Ramzan, with immediate effect on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, a circular stated, "On April 4, 2022, a Circular was issued to Muslim employees requesting brief leave (about two hours per day) during Ramzan. The Competent Authority has now decided, by order, to retract the aforementioned Circular with immediate effect."

The DJB announced on Monday that it has decided to grant Muslim employees short leave (of approximately two hours per day) "during Ramzan, that is, April 3 to May 2 or until the date of Idu'l fitr is declared, subject to the condition that they will accomplish their work during the remaining office hours so that the office work does not suffer."

Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims fast between dawn and sunset, pray for peace and guidance, give back to the community through charity or zakat, or engage in humanitarian actions such as feeding the poor, and reflect in order to enlighten their souls.
