CPAO reduces pension complaint resolution time to 45 days

CPAO reduces pension complaint resolution time to 45 days

The Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) has ordered that pension-related complaints should be redressed by the respective departments within 45 days of receiving the same. Previously, the period for filing a complaint was 60 days.

The time limit for resolving pension-related complaints filed by persons over the age of 80 and those who receive a family pension has been cut to 30 days.

The Pension Accounting Office has also cautioned that employees who have a tendency of sitting on pension-related complaints will face severe repercussions from the government.

Starting in July, each department of the Central Government should submit a report detailing the actions taken against personnel who are delaying the settlement of pension-related complaints at the conclusion of every three-month period.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Pensions had previously expressed its dissatisfaction with the government's failure to respond to retirees' complaints in a timely manner.

The panel noted that numerous ministries and departments were not complying with the 60-day time limit for resolving complaints, as stipulated by the law.

Complaints can be sent through an online portal.

Pensioners can now lodge concerns through the CPENGRAMS online complaint system, which was previously unavailable (Centralized Pension Grievances Redress And Monitoring System).

The current status of their applications can be obtained by selecting "View Grievance" and "Appeal Status" from the drop-down menus.
