CSS Forum Demand Work-from-Home Air Purifiers as Delhi's AQI Worsens

As Delhi's air quality continues to decline to alarming levels, the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) Forum, representing government officers, has called for urgent measures to protect employees' health and maintain workplace productivity.

In a letter addressed to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday, the association urged the government to implement work-from-home policies, staggered working hours, and install air purifiers across office buildings. The appeal comes amid growing health concerns linked to the city's severe air pollution.

"Urgent measures are needed to ensure the well-being of employees, especially those in government services," the letter stated, citing symptoms such as respiratory issues, eye irritation, fatigue, and general discomfort affecting many workers.

The CSS Forum warned that prolonged exposure to hazardous air quality is not only impacting employees' health but also the efficiency of the workforce. "The discomfort caused by poor air quality is affecting the efficiency and output of the workforce," the letter added, noting a rise in respiratory ailments among employees and their families.

Delhi's air pollution has reached critical levels in recent weeks, with many residents experiencing health impacts. The CSS Forum's demands highlight the growing pressure on authorities to address the crisis and safeguard public health.
