How to use Jeevan Pramaan Face Android App for Digital Life Certificate

Union Minister, Shri. Jitendra Singh had introduced the unique mobile face recognition technology for pensioners. Read: Face recognition technique launched for life certificate. The face recognition technology will help in generating the life certificate for the pensioners which is required to ensure continued receipt of pensions without any hassle.

The Jeevan Pramaan face application is only available for Android devices in India. The app does not require the use of a biometric device. Pensioners can use face recognition technology to determine their identity and submit their life certificates through the Jeevan Pramaan face recognition app. They do not need to go to the bank or be concerned about non-capturable finger biometrics when submitting the life certificate.

The government has been introducing a lot of technologies to make life easier for retired and older people. Earlier the government had introduced the Biometric Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate (DLC) that enables the pensioners to generate the Digital Life Certificate at the comfort of their homes. However, this process required additional hardware such as fingerprint and iris scanners and will not work with scanners on the phone. These devices in most cases will not be available at the pensioner's disposal. The new Jeevan Pramaan Face App overcomes this as it uses the camera of the mobile phone to capture the face and authenticate the pensioner life certificate.

Both Jeevan Pramaan client software (Windows/Android) and the new Jeevan Pramaan Face App (Android) are available for download at https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/package/download site. Jeevan Pramaan client software (Windows/Android) will require a biometric fingerprint/ iris scanner device. The Biometric device is not required for Jeevan Pramaan Face App (Android), the app uses the camera of the mobile phone to capture the face.

The process to Download the Face Recognition App

The pensioners have to download the Jeevan Pramaan face application to submit the life certificate through face recognition. The process to download the face application on mobile phones is as follows:

Get the app from the above-referred page.
Note that you have to download the Jeevan Pramaan Face App (Android) and not the old client app.
The pensioners will be authenticated with OTP on their email ID.
The pensioners will receive the link to download the Jeevan Pramaan face app on their email ID.
Download and install the face recognition software on your mobile phone.

The process to Use the Face Recognition App

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare provided the process of submitting the life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) through the face recognition app. The process is as follows:

Download the Jeevan Pramaan face application on the mobile phone (as provided above).
Download the AadhaarFaceRD app from the Google Play Store.
The pensioners have to install the Jeevan Pramaan face application from the file downloads on their mobile.
Open the Jeevan Pramaan face application and give the necessary permissions.
Do the operator authentication and scan the face of the operator to open the application. The operator authentication is a one-time process, and the pensioners themselves can be the operators.
Fill in the pensioner details and scan the face of the pensioner. (The pensioners must scan their face in a frontal pose with neutral expression under proper lighting).
Click on the ‘Submit’ button. The pensioners will receive a message on the mobile number with a link for downloading the DLC (Jeevan Pramaan).
